Hello Everyone, I just wrote a long email in BB, which erased when I sent it. So lesson #1, if you don't want to lose what you wrote, write it in Word, then copy and paste- or you will be frustrated like I am at this very moment!
Anyway- I'll try and make it more efficient this time.
Attendance: It's important. Don't expect an A if you've missed three classes. The probability is very low. Even one missed class has a possibility of affecting your grade. We pack a lot into a two hour class and I can't let you know "what I missed" in 5 minutes. Neither can your classmates since you all learn differently.
If you are running late or are missing class- let me know ahead of time, personally. Telling a classmate doesn't help your case. Professional practice is part of your learning experience. You can't miss a client visit and then contact them later with your excuse. Unless it is an unavoidable emergency where you had no means of contact (and in this day and age- there are few cases where this is really true). If you don't tell ahead of time, there isn't much point in making your excuses, you've already wasted the client's time and effort- and perhaps damaged trust.
This may sound serious- and that is because it is. That said, you are adults, and you will make your decisions based on your personal life priorities. I understand balancing a family and work life- as well as doing school at the same time (I've done it). I also personally understand the pressures of debt/ school loans. So, I'm asking that you keep excuses to a minimum in this class.
Your blog will have important information for you, especially if BB is down. (under announcements).
Your textbook is vital- your first three chapters are due (assessments/ quizzes) by September 5. If you are still waiting for a book to arrive in the mail- refuse it when it arrives and get an online version/rent it (options on the blog). Or, rent the first few chapters- just do what you need to do. You can't get through this class without it.

If you can't get into BB, call the student help desk 668-1818 (I can't help you with login issues). As of today you should have already "checked in" to class (under discussions). If you don't log in until the day everything is due, I can't be very helpful to you (procrastinating will not help).
I will see you all in two weeks. By the way- I very much enjoyed your answers in class- it shows that you have already learned a great deal in your time here, and that is exciting :)
